Abstract
This report provides an overview of the global MICE industry. It was compiled at the beginning of the 21st century, a time when there is much reflection on the current situation and significance of the global tourism industry. The rationale for undertaking this report is first, given the size, importance, and rapid growth of the MICE industry, it seems appropriate that the main trends and issues facing the industry are outlined. By producing this overview of the current state of the MICE industry, it provides the background to future growth. Second, whilst there is a significant amount of publicity concerning this high profile industry, much of the information and data is scattered in a range of different sources, which makes an assessment of the global industry problematic. As a consequence, the purpose of this report is to assemble the current information available in order to facilitate an understanding of the global MICE industry.
