Abstract

This article examines the current position regarding physical rehabilitation and intermediate care services for older people with dementia. A review of the literature reveals three main areas of research involving this group: mixed diagnoses, fractured neck of femur and falls. The literature is scant and not wholly conclusive. It indicates a clear requirement for further research and a need for a review of health care education in order to prepare practitioners to provide focused care.
