Abstract
In the late 19th and early 20th century. the telephone proved to be the true ancestor radio. the Theatrephone - or Electrophone was a wired subscription service which connected subscribers to theatres and churches, enabling the electronic transmission of live performance. The programme explored the rise and decline of this early technology, curiously replicated in today's world of cable broadcasting.
