Abstract
An analysis of how the magazine Country Life has reported fashion trends over the period 1945 to 2000, and how far the reportage and the magazine's advertising reflect fashion within the "county set." The use of the traditional attributes of the country gentleman, dog and gun, in fashion imagery and advertising are assessed, and the position of tweed as the most evocative of country fabrics is examined.
