Abstract
A history of radio talks, news and current affairs in the UK from 1922 to 2000. The book will trace the evolution of what is termed 'public issue radio'from the pre-war talks tradition through the development of news and talks magazines to single subject current affairs, and most notably Radio Four's 'Today', 'Analysis' and 'File on Four'. This is a cultural as well as a broadcasting history and draws extensively on original interview and archive research.
