Abstract
Use cases are used extensively in software requirements capture and representation in contemporary software system analysis and design. Ubiquitous computing systems are likely to require a high degree of user-centric requirements capture if they are to meet the often demanding requirements of the modern computer user. Such systems have a strong association with privacy issues, and their users are likely to have highly adaptive, complex privacy needs. This paper proposes a synthesis and extension of extant approaches to misuse cases for the special case of privacy issues in developing ubiquitous computing systems, catering for privacy enhancing technology. By incorporating privacy at the earliest and most critical phase of system development, we propose the enhancement provides greater emphasis on addressing privacy needs during systems development.
