Abstract

This research provides an insight into career profiles and strategies of tourism and hospitality academics. Despite growth in tourism and hospitality educational programs worldwide, little is known about the education and career development of these academic professionals. Based on primary data collected from an international sample, the article discusses the career profiles and strategies of tourism and hospitality academics in terms of their patterns of jobs over time, educational qualifications, industry experiences, and career commitment. Implications of the study results are discussed in terms of profiling the human capital in the profession and the educational and career development issues.
