In the present investigation, in situ TiB2 reinforced Al 6063 composites were synthesized through the exothermic reaction between Al–10%Ti and Al–3%B master alloys, which were used in the ratio of 1:2 and 2:1 respectively in Al 6063 matrix alloy. The performance of Al 6063 based in situ composites in slurry erosive environment was examined. The slurry consists of equiaxed sand particles of size approximately 600 µm in 3.5%NaCl solution. The slurry erosive wear studies on Al 6063 alloy and Al 6063-TiB2 composites were carried out at different sand concentration, varying rotational speed and at different time duration of exposure. It was observed that weight loss decreased with increase in TiB2 reinforcement. However, there was increase in weight loss with increase in slurry concentration, rotational speed and time duration of exposure.
