Abstract

Facilitating children’s well-being by supporting their social networks is a key role of children’s nurses. This paper presents the concept social capital as a cognitive tool to help nurses to reflect on why and how supporting these networks is important. Through three case studies we introduce the key attributes of social capital and how these may be applied and inform practice within the hospital and community context.
