Abstract
The philosophy behind two innovative developments at Bournemouth University is provided by two concepts. Firstly, that engineers, who whilst young and impressionable have their consciousness raised in the matter of patents, are more likely to benefit from an awareness of patents in their future careers. Secondly, that intellectual property lawyers who realise early on that they are only as good as the benefits they create for their clients will have learned an important lesson.
