Abstract
Up to 50% of patients fail to take their medicine correctly and in addition to this over £230 million worth of medicines are returned to pharmacies each year for disposal. This article offers an overview of how through promoting concordance the prescriber can enhance patients’ knowledge and understanding of their medicines and empower them to make the best possible use of their medication.
