Abstract
The article describes the concept of advanced nursing practice. Advanced practice is conducted by employing methods of inquiry, such as narratives, that enable professionals to critically examine the unique events of their practice, and the knowledge that was brought to bear can be surfaced in a written form. Gradually, this informal knowledge will move onto a formal footing, where it becomes more acceptable as a form of evidence. Furthermore, the advanced ways of knowing that advanced practitioners use will become more apparent, and their nursing artistry will be made more evident.
