Abstract
Key Points. Certain controlled drugs can now be prescribed by extended formulary nurses. Patient group directions will also allow a wider range of healthcare professionals to prescribe controlled drugs. It is essential that practitioners keep up to date with the latest developments in prescribing legislation.
