Abstract

An 89 year old lady with moderate dementia was admitted after a collapse at home. She had been confused and off her food for a few weeks before the admission. It was found that she had a coliform urinary tract infection (UTI) and she was treated with trimethoprim. She was also noted to be constipated. She remained on the ward and was relatively independent. Her medication included amiodarone, magnesium hydroxide, venlafaxine and lansoprazole. Her routine blood tests were normal.
