Abstract
Patient education in Parkinson’s disease (EduPark) The aim of this pan-European project, which was carried out with the financial support from the EU, was to develop and evaluate an education programme for people with Parkinson’s disease and their carers. The project is based at the University of Portsmouth, Department of Psychology. The education programme, which consists of 8, 1.5 hour sessions, focuses on psycho-social support for patients and carers and deals with issues such as depression, anxiety, the burden of care and social support. The development and implementation stages of the project have now been completed and resulted in a manual in seven different languages. Many of the seven participating European teams, including the British team, are (planning to) publishing the manual for the use of professionals wishing to conduct the education programme.
