Abstract
Assessment should provide strong formative elements being designed to maximise the leaning rather than simply serve as a grading mechanism. Students' reactions to assessment feedback appear to differ greatly dependant upon the quality and nature of its construction. The primary research conducted for this paper has indicated that assessment feedback can provide significant learning to students when well designed, however students also describe disengagement with this stage of the process when feedback is not carefully constructed. Best practice using banks of comments is collated with regard to the construction of feedback. The use of Excel and Waipoint, a new application adopted by BU, to provide feedback using banks of comments are evaluated based on the author's experiences.
