Abstract
Book chapter analysing the media's role in the creating of fear to add to the naturally occuring unceratinty in childbirth. Chapter compares UK and USA and is written by an interdisciplinary team bringing to the writing ideas from the UK and the USA and from the disciplones of health service research, midwifery and sociology.
