Abstract

The town council of the city of Vlaardingen in the Netherlands has decided to honour the first chair of the Royal Dutch Organisation of Midwives by naming a street after her. The author outlines the important role Ms Francijntje de Kadt played in this organisation in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
