Abstract
This research stems from developments in the New Forest; its designation as a National Park in 2005 and more recently, the New Forest National Park Authority’s (NFNP) receipt of Local Sustainable Transport Funds (LSTF) in partnership with the South Downs National Park. The research provides a contextualised analysis of how visitors use transport both to reach and to travel around the New Forest with the overarching objective of identifying where interventions can be used to increase the sustainability of visitor travel. This paper provides an overview of these existing practices and discusses the additional insight offered by older visitors.
